My life for the past 8 months...

I was involved in a hit and run back in August (I was walking in a crosswalk and was struck by a car), and spent one week in ICU, was in a trauma unit for one week after that and then spent 2 1/2 weeks in a rehab clinic. I have undergone 5 surgeries; one for my leg (my tibia sustained compound fractures), one on my wrist (to fix multiple fractures surrounding the ulna) and three on my elbow(my radius needed to be reconstructed). I now have plates in screws in all these body parts(going through security at the airport should be fun). My surgeon said he has not seen a case like this in 10 years because my injuries were so severe.

Thank goodness I was able to go home with my parents in mid September, because living in the hospital was horrible. I have spent the past 6 months going to physical and occupational therapy to get stronger and exercise my hand, arm and leg so that I can have regular use of them again. I am thankful for my family and friends who have helped me get through the past couple of months, but sometimes it just isn't enough. I am a 27 year old female who has had my life turned upside down. My independence was taken away from me! And for what, walking in a marked crosswalk!! I think it is unfair that the girl who hit me goes on in life without suffering any consequences for what she has done. I am out of work on disabilty and hopefully will return part-time in a few weeks (never thought I would actually want to work :). I had to break my lease on my apartment in PB and move home with my parents; I am unable to care for myself at the time. I long for the day I can walk and get around on my own and just live the fun carefree life I had before all of this happened.

There were many witnesses that saw the accident, but unfortuately no one got a license plate number. Detectives working on the case have had no leads. Below are links regarding the case:
